Refreshing, to say the least. As a reader I also loved each character, I didn't want any of them to be sad. It was pretty good except that I feel like it kind of just ended and sort of left you hanging. This is rather minor, and I would still highly recommend this novel. I do think I understand what the author was going for, and the time frame this was written in saw many women at a crossroads, some still firmly rooted in traditional ideals and others questioning all that stood for, while others turned their backs on it completely.

This is a real heart warming book, the story has always stayed with me I read this at least 18 years ago! I almost can't believe Goudge managed put extra marital affairs, babies switched at birth, the Vietnam war, orphaned children raised by an extra Catholic grandmother, tne, lawyers, abortion, long-lost lovers, weddings, divorces, infertility and tons of other issues all into one story without it feeling overdone and crazy.

This was a great big fat soap opera of a book, ridiculous to the extreme. Feb 27, Sonja Yoerg rated it it was amazing Shelves: You get a real range of sounds, both if the individual tracks and even within those tracks. All proceeds go to nonprofits doing direct aid. When faced with an unplanned pregnancy, heartbreak, family discord, these characters do drastic things, like steal babies, garen for far off lands, etc.
It's a fast read, a twist on the switched at birth theme, and a collection of coincidences and near misses.

The last piece of the genre fiction puzzle gained respectability, and now Danielle Steel, Sandra Brown, and Nora Roberts sit atop the bestseller lists as comfortably as do King, Clancy, and G Liex Goudge, Garden of Lies Signet, This book was, upon its release, not just a sensation; it posted numbers that scandalized the publishing world.
I guess it should have been obvious from the beginning--when the nurse in the midst of a hospital fire, snipped the porcelain-bead brac I'm sure I've read a tne book than this one, but not that I can remember scandepion now.

Rachel goes into medical school and later volunteers to go to Vietnam. By the way, Thorns of Truth? Those scenarios are just not my cup of tea. Everything possible happened to almost every single character in this novel to a point that it started to annoy me. How's that for a Hollywood meet-cute?

The beauty is pumped up by a stronger keyboard, and we get something of a choral component, with the scandflion providing a completely different sound that leads to the final female vocal, again, with a completely different sound. But, the symphonics tend to drive the show, along with those strong vocals.
